"Capturing Souls" for JESUS
In the Mountains of "Kapchorwa"

During the week of Thanksgiving, 2006, Jon traveled with a Harvest Ministry team to a remote area called "Kapchorwa" which deperately needs the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's an isolate region on the side of a cloud-covered mountain in North Eastern Uganda where most people live in constant fear of a neighboring violent tribe which live in the valley below. The area is lush and beautiful with breathtaking waterwalls and hillsides; yet the people of Kapchorwa are extremely poor and the society is dominated by evil and unclean ceremonies (including bizarre "circumcision-rites" for both males and females) which are all rooted in terrible witchcraft-related practices.

On the outreach, we had to deal with fierce rainstorms and wind; but we were very thankful as each evening between 2,000 and 4,000 people came to hear the message of Jesus and His New Life. During the daytime, teaching seminars were held for local Christian leaders, and our team had the opportunity to minister at all four churches in the area (which were all very encouraged and strengthened). We rejoiced as over 600 people prayed to surrender their lives to the Lord, about 100 people were baptized in the Holy Spirit, and several others were dramatically delivered!

We praise God for for allowing us the opportunity to reach these people for Him . . .
and we thank you for sending us!

SUDAN...
Proclaiming God's Peace
In a Land Devastated by WAR

Dear Friends & Family,

Thank you so much for praying for this recent outreach! For the first time in nearly a generation, the Good News of Jesus Christ was publicly proclaimed in Yei, Sudan and multitudes eagerly responded to receive God’s salvation!

Open doors, after years of war...

For 21 years, Sudan has been mostly closed to open evangelism, due to a civil war between the Muslim North and the non-Muslim South. But just recently, God opened the doors; and we knew it was an incredible opportunity!

A few months ago, our pastor gave a prophetic word that “God was going to open doors...that no man could shut.” Just a day or two later, we received an invitation to preach in the Sudan; and immediately we started moving forward. Preparations quickly began as Harvest Ministry chartered two M.A.F. (Missionary Aviation Fellowship) planes, an advance team secured government permissions, and our N.E.T.S. ministers started mobilizing local Christian believers for logistics and prayer.

After everything was set into motion, Sudan’s vice-president (the military leader of the South) “mysteriously” died in a helicopter crash. This political tragedy threatened to cancel the entire outreach; but we continued to move forward with extreme caution and prayer...believing that God would keep open these doors

And miraculously, the doors stayed open! Throughout the outreach, there was complete peace and absolutely no incident of unrest (which was a great testimony to the city!)

Multitudes hear the Good News of Jesus...
Every night, about 20,000 people crowded into the city of Yei, Sudan as Jon Dunagan and Drake Kanaabo ministered. (Over the entire outreach we estimate approximately 80,000 people in total combined attendance heard the Good News of Jesus!)

Exciting testimonies & divine-contacts...

It was exciting as at least 15,000 people prayed to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ! The religious stronghold in the area was witchcraft (Tribal Animism) and every night, it was amazing to see God deliver multitudes of people from demonic spirits.

And there’s quite a story about a “divine-contact.” A Sudanese man (who works for the JESUS Film) was praying for one or two “EvangeCubes” to help with his ministry outreaches. God used Jon to connect this man with an EvangeCube mission team who came to Yei in search of someone to distribute their tool! As we reach other cities throughout the Sudan, Lord willing, we will be working more with these two ministries. Already, we are praying about future outreaches in the Sudan ...and we will GO as God provides!

It was exciting to share in “virgin” territory where many people had never heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. The few churches were tremendously encouraged and pastors are working hard to disciple these new believers.

Somewhere in the Saudi Arabian Desert...
--On the way to Sudan, Jon spent three days in Middle East, He went four-wheeling across the Saudi Arabian Peninsula, rode a camel out into the desert, went snorkeling in hot ocean water (over 100 degress!) and distributed Bibles to Arabs in the desert... (and who says "world missions" is boring?) International evangelism is the most exciting job in the world!
