HARVEST REPORT
His PASSION for HARVEST!

Dear Friends & Family,

Blessings and greetings in the precious name of Jesus! Right now, spring is in the air...with hillsides turning green and flowers beginning to bloom. It’s nearing the annual time we usually focus attention on the cross and the resurrection; but for many of us this year, the reality of our Lord Jesus’ sacrifice is more real than ever.

Remembering GOOD FRIDAY
...as we celebrate the RESURRECTION!

If you saw the recent movie,The PASSION of the Christ, you probably didn’t “enjoy” it. It’s not a film to go to for entertainment; however, if you want to experience a challenging portrayal of our Lord’s crucifixion, we highly recommend it. This graphic drama is vivid and moving; and as Christians, we need to be challenged and “moved” by the cross. We need to remember all that Jesus endured, and continually remind ourselves of the purpose for His willing obedience. In Hebrews 12:2, we are told to look unto Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith, Who for the JOY that was set before Him endured the cross.” How could there be any joy in such a brutal cross? How can we refer to that day as “Good” Friday? It’s because we know how the story ends! It was there Jesus displayed His deepest passion, and there He fulfilled His ultimate destiny

–to provide the ONLY way for us to be saved from our sins and reconciled to God.

May we have God’s PASSION for the lost!!

Jesus willingly surrendered everything, and took up His cross; but it wasn’t only for us. His precious blood was shed for the entire world. Yet even now, 2,000 years later, over 1.6 BILLION people have still never heard of Him! As Christians, we must be willing to surrender everything...to take up our cross (God’s desire and will for our lives) and His passion for the lost. This year, as we remember our Lord Jesus’ death and resurrection, may we all be filled with more of His purpose...and His JOY!! We love and appreciate you!

In His Harvest,

Jon & Ann (& all)

A song of prayer Ann wrote years ago:

Your passion for harvest, O Lord Your love for the lost
For the JOY set before You, O Lord You took Your cross
Now Your love compells me, for You died to save me
May I live only for You...and...

Your passion for harvest, I need Your love for the lost
For the JOY set before me, O Lord, I’ll take my cross
For Your love compells me, for You died to save me
May I live only for You, for You.

On the Antarctica outreach, the first Bibles we distribulted were to penguins! ...these people in penguine-costume from Patagonia, Argentina! South America and Antarctica
HARVEST REPORT

What an exciting year!! In 2003, Harvest Ministry had the opportunity to take the awesome news of Jesus Christ to all seven continents: to Africa, Europe, North and South America, Australia and the South Pacific, to Asia...and just this month, even to people living on the continent of Antarctica!

From city-wide outreaches in Botswana, to sharing one-on-one on the streets of Singapore and Sydney, to preaching on a Russian ship and distributing Ukrainian Bibles to Antarctica scientists at a remote research station–this year, we shared the message of God’s salvation ALL across the earth!! And everywhere, we shared about Jesus–who really is our JOY to the WORLD!!

South America: Our mission adventure took us to the town of Ushuaia in the Patagonia region of Argentina–an area known as the southernmost “end of the earth.” There, we shared the Gospel and distributed Spanish Bibles, JESUS films, and Gospel booklets to people we met – including workers on top of a mountain and Argentinans in penguin costume (It was funny, as Jon had said before the trip, “I’ll even preach to the penguins!”). While sailing through Chili, we shared the Gospel with Russian crew members and international passengers on board the ship.

Towards the end of the expedition, a passenger from Scotland came to talk to Jon and our friend, and asked, “I’ve been watching you two all week, and wanted to know ‘why do your faces glow’?” She said that she had only seen a similar glow once before on two “very holy” nuns! This woman could “see” that something was different! It wasn’t as if our faces were especially light, it was just that everyone else’s were very dark without Christ. But throughout the journey, God’s light shined to many!!

Antarctica: Over a year ago, Jon had a very vivid dream which we believe was from the Lord. In the dream, Jon saw himself (and his friend) on a Russian ship en route to Antarctica. In the dream, they prayed a word of God’s redemption over the continent of Antarctica (see prayer above) and then were able to share the Gospel with a specific man who was running from God.

The actual trip was very similar to the dream. One of the expedition leaders seemed to be the man Jon “saw” in his dream! This adventurous extreme-sportman had been to both the North and South Poles many times, ran 10 marathons 10 days in a row, skiied across Northern Russia...and much more. But as this expedition leader spoke, Jon sensed there was something more about him. Though the man’s appearance, speech and actions did not appear “Christ-like,” Jon sensed inside that there was a “residue” of an anointing on this man’s life–as if long ago, this man had been called to preach the Gospel. In the middle of the ocean, Jon shared with this man what he felt...and the man was totally shocked! He then began to open up and tell his story: he had indeed been raised in a strong evangelical home, years ago he had been an Anglican minister with one of the largest parishes in Canada–ministering throughout many isolated Northern regions, and had even been presented with an award from the Canadian government equivalent to our U.S. “Congressional Medal of Honor” for his remote work ...but something had happened and he had left the ministry. It was a joy to share the Lord with this man, and with many others–including remote Ukrainian scientists on an isolated Antarctica research station (We were able to make an unexpected stop at an ice-locked research station, and were actually on the very first Zodiac boat to visit the station in over nine months. “Accidentally” we had brought some Ukrainian Bibles along with our Russian and Spanish materials so we were prepared!) One night, our friend even boldly preached the Gospel to most of the passengers on the ship during an evening “talent show!” The whole outreach was incredible and exciting...and what a JOY it always is to serve Jesus...anywhere He sends us! (By the way, in just two weeks, Jon will be ministering with all five N.E.T.S. ministers in a remote Ugandan village on the border of Congo called “Kyambura” located inside of a massive crater!! Please pray for many souls to be saved!!) We love & appreciate you!

In His Worldwide Harvest, Jon & Ann (& all)

Thankful for God’s Protection!!

No matter where we are, we all need God’s supernatural protection. It was ironic that after traveling all over the world–to many dangerous places and through Antarctic waters–that the greatest moment of danger took place on Dec. 23rd when Jon & Ann were hit in a head-on car collision (the other car was driving on our side of the road) only a few miles from home. We were able to share the Gospel with the teenage girl driving the other car, and to pray with her before an ambulance rushed her to the hospital. (The girl was hospitalized for several days, but is now home.) Jon seems fine, but Ann suffered an injury to her left eye, and has been seeing an eye specialist every day–including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! (On the morning before Christmas Ann woke up with pain in her left eye and was unable to see anything through it...but within a few hours things began to lighten up...and now, it’s like a thick “fog” is over her eye.) We’re believing for total healing and restoration, and would appreciate your prayers. Just today, Drake Kanaabo in Uganda told us, “The Holy Spirit has been driving me to pray for you SOOO much these last few days!! Ameeeen!!!”

Isn’t God good?!!! We are so thankful for His protection!

HARVEST REPORT - Report from Antarctica

To the UTTERMOST...

"And you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me to Jerusalem, and to Judea, and to Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Dear Friends & Family,

The year is quickly coming to a close, and we’re excited about completing the challenge (Lord willing) of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ on every continent on earth within 2003! On the day before Thanksgiving, Jon and a friend will be departing for an exciting mission and prayer outreach to Argentina and Chili in South America...and then boarding a Russian ship to Antarctica!

We have Gospel materials in other languages including Russian and Spanish Bibles, scientific creation materials, JESUS films, Christian teaching tapes and videos...and look forward to sharing the Lord with whoever He leads us to!

God is always SO good! Here’s a few recent praise reports from this last month:

Jon preached two times at a large Russian church in the Portland area. (Coming into the church felt just like taking a mission trip to Russia...the language...the culture and music...the style of ministry...and the warmth of the people!) Many came forward in the altar calls for salvation and hundreds of others were challenged to have a greater passion for the Word of God and World Missions. The church even donated some Russian materials for the upcoming mission trip!

In Africa, all of the National Evangelism Team Support (NETS) Ministers are doing well. Naboth and Alice (together with over 400 orphan children) just celebrated the 10th Anniversary of their orphanage-school. Also, plans and details are underway for Jon and N.E.T.S. Minister, Drake Kanaabo to lead a city-wide evangelistic outreach in January, 2004 to an isolated district in Uganda, East Africa!

Ann continues to work on her re-writing project, and was encouraged by a recent phone call: a family was inspired and challenged by her first book...and are leaving very soon to serve as full-time missionaries in Israel!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers. May the Lord bless you with a wonderful Thanksgiving season! (We are sure thankful for YOU!)

In His Worldwide Harvest,

Jon & Ann (& all)

HARVEST REPORT - Australia

SHARING JESUS AROUND THE WORLD...
...IN AUSTRALIA!!...IN NEW ZEALAND!!...IN FRENCH POLYNESIA!!...IN AFRICA!!

Jon & Ann Dunagan with their daughter, Christi, in Sydney, Australia!Witnessing in the "Land Down Under!"

Greetings and Blessings...from the “Land Down Under!” We recently returned from an exciting ministry trip to Australia and New Zealand, with a stopover on the way back on the South Pacific island of Moorea in French Polynesia.

The primary purpose of the trip was to attend an international ministry and leadership conference at Hillsong Church in Sydney’s Olympic complex, and our time there was incredible!! It was actually the first time in about 12 years that we attended a conference to be ministered “to” and we felt very blessed and encouraged by the Lord. Along with the main meetings (which totally filled the Sydney SuperDome with over 23,000 people) we attended very practical training sessions in international evangelism (taught by ministers from around the world), women’s ministry, children’s ministry, worship, and leadership. We met Christians from throughout the world, encouraged other pastors and leaders, and got a great taste of what God is doing in Australia. The evening worship services were absolutely wonderful!! On the final night especially, the worship was so intense and deep, it felt like we were in heaven!!

Jon was able to share the Gospel with this family...and many others on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia!! We also distributed Bible and JESUS films!!Throughout the entire trip, we were open to the Lord’s leading, and had many opportunities to share with nonbelievers. We were actually quite amazed at how many international immigrants we met in Australia, and how open people were to hear about Jesus. Many people on the streets had NEVER heard the Gospel, and not one person we shared with had a Bible. At the same time, all (but one) were very eager to listen as we shared and all (but one) eagerly received a New Testament (that “one” was a Hindu man...who said he didn’t want to receive the Bible, because he knew he would then have to follow what it said.) We had a great time sharing the love and joy of Jesus, and gave away many Bibles, Four-Spiritual-Laws tracts, and many JESUS films. Here’s a quick list of some of the many people we were able to share the Lord with, or minister to:

• Shared and gave a Bible to a young Muslim girl and her family, from Kuwait.

• Gave Bibles to five workers at a crowded Espresso Stand (including a Chinese man who ignored his long line of customers, and sat right down to read his new Bible!)

• Shared with a waitress from India (who said our peace and JOY reminded her of another person who had once told her about Jesus.)

• Witnessed to several taxi drivers and a waitress from Lebanon

• Prayed with a Christian girl from Canada (who wanted prayer for her parents – who were named “Jon & Ann”– to be saved.)

• Prayed with a Norwegian minister from Oslo

• Shared with restaurant workers from Turkey

• Encouraged pastors from New Zealand

• Shared with a taxi driver from Afghanistan

• Witnessed to a French Polynesian hitchhiker

• And shared Jesus with Australian, New Zealand, and Moorean people everywhere!!

Our daughter, Christi (who had her 13th birthday during the trip) commented, “Dad & Mom, you guys sure aren’t shy! ” Why should we be? Our God is incredible, we have the most exciting news in all the world...and it’s so FUN to share it!! Thank you for helping us GO!

The beautiful countryside of New Zealand!New Life in New Zealand!

During our time in New Zealand, Jon noticed a man working on landscaping... and felt the Lord’s “tug” to go share the Gospel with him. We only had a few hours left in the country, and were still hoping to see some of the beautiful green countryside that New Zealand is famous for. We were already in our rental car and driving on our way...when God suddenly reminded Jon of a promise he had made a few years ago:

Back in Oregon, we had just moved into a new neighborhood. While out on a prayer walk, Jon noticed an elderly man working on his yard outside, and felt the Lord’s “tug” inside to go share the Gospel with this new neighbor. Jon said “Hi”...but decided to wait at least until AFTER his walk to share the Lord with him. But only a half an hour later, when Jon again walked by this man’s house, he wasn’t outside. Later that day, the man actually had a medical emergency and was rushed to a nearby hospital, and then flown out of town. Two days later, this man died, and Jon never had another chance to share Jesus with him. At that time, Jon promised the Lord:

“I will share with whoever You want, wherever You want, and whenever You want!!”

Right away, Jon turned the rental car around, and drove back those few blocks. He immediately got out of the car, walked straight up to that New Zealand man and bluntly said, “God is calling you to follow Him, right now!” The man was eager to listen, and had been really searching for God. While Jon continued to share the Gospel, Ann interceded nearby in the car. The man was ready to surrender his life to the Lord!! He prayed–right then and there–to receive Jesus Christ!! Jon gave him a Bible, and encouraged him to go to church! (We had actually met a New Zealand pastor while in Australia, and were able to recommend a specific nearby church!)

The whole situation reminded us again of the importance of instant obedience to the Lord’s promptings. Even when we don’t “feel” like sharing...even when we’re busy...even when we have other “important” things to do...we need to follow those leadings of the Holy Spirit. For someone, it could make an eternal difference...and what could be more important than that?

(And, by the way, we still had enough time to see some of that beautiful green New Zealand countryside after all!)

These children received new clothes from Harvest Ministry!"...For I was NAKED...and you CLOTHED ME" -- JESUS

This summer, Harvest Ministry (through a gift from a local children’s church) clothed a village of very poor children and orphans!

Several months ago, while ministering in this remote area in Africa, I was deeply moved by the poverty of the people. Near a church where I was preaching, there were many children clothed in nothing but rags. My own kids and I had just finished this “big-closet-purging-project” back at home (getting rid of accumulated clothes and “stuff”) so it really “hit” me hard: these children had NOTHING! Many were orphans, and some were totally naked. That day, the words of Jesus, “I was naked, and you did not clothe Me...” rang through my mind, and I thought, “JESUS Himself is naked on these streets. I knew I couldn’t do much, but I got right up, walked with my friend, Josephine Kanaabo, to a nearby market and bought an arm-load of little outfits. However, when Josephine and I went to give them away, the situation was pathetic. A few children were helped, but I ended up having to stand on top of the cab of a truck to keep from being swarmed by needy children and begging adults...and I did not forget those little children who were left out.

Just recently, the Children’s Ministry here in Hood River which I am currently directing at our home church had a mission project to clothe the remaining children from this village with brand new African clothes (costing about $3 per child). Through Harvest Ministry and the work of N.E.T.S. Minister, Joseph Baluku, the whole village of children was clothed, including many orphans! The appreciative families came to a nearby church to hear Joseph preach the Gospel, and as a result, entire families committed their lives to follow Jesus Christ!! In a beautiful letter of gratitude, Joseph told us, “on behalf of the naked children, thank you!”

The main focus of Harvest Ministry has always been–and will always be–soulwinning and mission evangelism. However, we see this benevolence project as a special (and much-needed) way to help share the love of Jesus, and an excellent project to help us instill a heart for missions in our children!

Hey KIDS!!
If you (or your Children’s Church) would like to help clothe a few poor children –or a whole village!– in Africa, you CAN! For $3, you can give a brand-new outfit to a very poor child and share the love of Jesus!!! If you want to help, send your special mission gift to “Harvest Ministry”
...marked: “Kids Clothing Kids!!”

With Love & Appreciation!!

In His Harvest,
Jon & Ann

Joshua Dunagan - Seeing the Need in SingaporeHARVEST REPORT

Seeing the Need in Singapore & Malaysia

Dear Friends & Family,

You are a blessing!!! We are so grateful to the Lord for always directing our lives and ministry and providing for everything...and we are grateful to YOU for your partnership with us! This last month, Jon and Joshua went on an mission outreach to “scout out the land” in Singapore and Malaysia. Throughout the trip, they were sensitive to the Lord’s leading and had several exciting opportunities to minister the Good News of Jesus.

Jon & Joshua Dunagan in MalaysiaSHARING IN SINGAPORE:
Even on the airplane, Jon & Joshua had a special time of sharing the Lord with a lady from Hong Kong. The woman listened intently and accepted a Bible...and throughout the remainder of the long flight, she kept reading it (pausing only to look up a few English words in her computer-dictionary!) We pray God’s Word will not return void! They also were able to share the Gospel with others, including a taxi driver who had turned away from God. Years ago, this man had been active in a strong Christian church, but he had fallen away from the Lord. The driver referred to himself as “Jonah” – running from God and just waiting for some fish to swallow him up! A highlight of the trip was when this man prayed with Jon to surrender his life back to the Lord!

A village in Malaysia where we passed out Bibles REACHING OUT IN MALAYSIA:
In Malaysia, we traveled to a fishing village, where Joshua passed out Bibles. Although it wasn’t very far away, the Malaysian culture was totally different than the prosperous city of Singapore. In this predominantly Muslim country, the people were very poor, and they eagerly received the Bibles!

Our friend - from a Buddhist family in Thailand - is baptized in our dirty pond!AN EXCITING EASTER BAPTISM:
As shown on the cover, we were thrilled to witness the Christian baptism of our teenage friend, Tip, (who is from a Buddhist family in Thailand). Our son, Patrick, led this young man to the Lord during their Cross-country season last year, and since then, he has been growing in the Lord and in God’s Word. While recently staying with our family, he had his First Communion on Good Friday, and was baptized in our dirty pond on Easter weekend!

Children leading in the Pledge of Allegiance at a GOD BLESS AMERICA Prayer Gathering we organized in Hood River, Oregon

PRAYING FOR AMERICA:

To publicly pray and show support for our nation and our troops (in a way that would honor the Lord Jesus) we organized two local city-wide rallies. In Hood River, over twenty churches were represented for a GOD BLESS AMERICA Prayer Gathering at a city park, and in another nearby city, we led a “Celebrate America” ceremony during a large city festival. Along with honoring local military, police, fire fighters, pastors, teachers, our mayor, and veterans, the rally included prayer, patriotic hymns, and a strong Christian witness!

God wants us to use CREATIVE FAITH
...to shine brightly for Him in this world!

Thanks again for standing with us!
In His Harvest, Jon & Ann (& all)
