Why do we have a vision for missions?

A missionary evangelist, Oswald J. Smith said, "I have seen the vision, and for self I cannot live. Life is less than nothing, till my all I give." We too have seen the vision. We've seen the world's need with our own eyes. And we've learned the truth about missions in our own Bibles - from cover to cover! A better question to ask is, "As followers of Jesus, how could we not have His vision for missions?" The word mission brings to mind synonymns such as goal, vision, and purpose. As Christians, what is God's purpose for our lives? What are His goals and vision?

  • Our primary calling . . . is to know and love the Lord. But if that were all, God could have taken us to heaven the moment we received Jesus Christ.
  • Our primary mission . . . is to glorify God in and through our lives and to help make God known throughout the earth.
