Mission Challenge: "The Incredible Need" The Recent Mission Outreach...from Ann's Perspective
"The need for missions is totally beyond our capability...but it's not beyond God's"
It had actually been four years since I had been overseas. For a season, God has simply wanted me home with our children. And it has been good...
But seeing the need again, firsthand, was incredibly challenging. I have always had a heart for missions, but to experience the need myself renewed my passion... and my perspective. This trip really did something to me: ...seeing thousands of people surrender their lives to Jesus ...having precious little orphans look up into my eyes and cling to my hands ...preaching my heart (& voice) out to hundreds of women -- all so receptive, and so hungry for the Word of God ( I shared on being women of God in balance: in spirit, soul, and body, marriage, motherhood, home & ministry)

...experiencing the joy of a city surrendering to Jesus ...hearing thousands of new believers shouting praise to the Lord ...praying for the people as they brought forward witchcraft items to be burned ...and feeling their fervency. I’m usually pretty conservative, but I ended up joining-in with a native Congolese choir, and dancing with all my strength! Oh, the people went crazy to see this “Mazungu” woman dance!!
I was also deeply moved by the poverty. One day, I was tired and wanted to take a nap, but I just couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking about all the poor little children (and remembering this “thorough-closet-purging-project” my own kids and I had recently finished back at home -- getting rid of accumulated clothes and “stuff.”) Yet these African children had NOTHING. Many were orphans. Many wore only rags. Many were totally naked. The words of Jesus, “I was naked, and you did not clothe Me...” rang through my mind, and I thought, “JESUS Himself is naked in these streets.” I knew I couldn’t do much, but I got right up, walked to a nearby market and bought an arm-load of 17 little outfits. However, when I went to give them away, the situation was pathetic. A few were helped, but I ended up having to stand on top of a truck to keep from being swarmed by needy children and begging adults.
The need for missions -- both physically and spiritually -- is totally beyond our capability...
But it’s not beyond God’s. And He has challenged me once again to a new commitment.
May each of us simply hear His voice, feel His compassion, and obey what He tells us to do.

The purpose of Harvest Ministry is to help
fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to "Go into all the world
to preach the Gospel." Harvest Ministry is passionate about winning
souls, and is committed to going wherever the harvest is most ripe, and
wherever the Lord directs... Primarily, this is accomplished through
International Gospel Outreaches (especially in East Africa and other
third-world countries), National Evangelism Team Support (N.E.T.S.), and
encouraging other Christians to become actively involved in world
evangelism.
