International City-Wide Outreaches Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the World!
City-Wide
Outreach: In remote cities or villages
(after months of prayer and preparation), typical week-long evangelistic
outreaches include:
- Nightly evangelistic preaching in city stadiums or parks;
- Special Music (featuring local Christian choirs);
- Altar Calls for salvation, deliverance and healing;
- Daily training seminars for national pastors and Christians;
- Showing the JESUS movie in a local language (when possible).
Evangelistic Preaching: Each night, following music ministry by local choirs, the Gospel
of Jesus Christ is preached with power. One unique aspect of every
Harvest Ministry outreach is that the main preaching is always co-shared
with a national minister. Usually, Jon Dunagan preaches, along with a
national evangelist, such as Drake Kanaabo from Uganda. We have found
this to be very effective in sharing the Gospel cross-culturally. After
the preaching, there is usually prayer for the sick and for those who
need deliverance, and altar calls for those who want to surrender their
lives to the Lord.
Teaching & Training: Christian
teaching seminars for pastors, believers (and sometimes for women,
children, and youth) are often held during the daytime of an outreach to
encourage and train the local believers. These are usually taught by
visiting international ministers.
The JESUS Film The JESUS Film is a
powerful tool for ministry, currently available in 995 languages!!
Usually, at the conclusion of each evening meeting, we show a section of
this movie. Many times, this story of Jesus' life -- taken from the
Gospel of Luke -- is so moving to the local people that they wail loudly
during the crucifixion scene...and scream for joy at the
resurrection!

"But, what about follow-up?"
Preserving the Harvest
Obviously, following Jesus
Christ is more than a momentary "decision"...it is a whole new life of
following God's ways! (But just as every physical life must begin with
a moment of BIRTH, so also every spiritual life must begin with a
moment of "NEW BIRTH!!") Harvest Ministry is specifically called to
evangelism. After an outreach, local ministers help follow-up on these
new believers. When possible, we pass out Bibles, and usually water
baptism services are held by local pastors. As a direct result of this
ministry follow-up, over 400 indiginous churches have been planted in
remote areas.
Notes of Testimony:
Some good friends of ours (Pastor Bob
& Carol Higgins of "PATH Ministries"), came with us to teach the seminars on one of the
outreaches...and were so moved by the need for follow-up, they
actually DID SOMETHING about it!! In 1999, the Higgins became
missionaries to Uganda, especially to start Bible schools to train
national pastors. Their ministry (which is not affiliated with
Harvest Ministry -- except through LOVE and friendship) has
already founded many of these Bible Schools, which have been -- and
ARE-- a great blessing to hundreds Christian ministers throughout East
Africa!
Our former pastor, Nels Church, also came with us on
his first mission outreach to The Philippines. Nels and his wife,
Lorrie, were so moved by the need there, they became missionaries to
the Philippines through "REAP
International" (going with their seven children,
a friend in a wheelchair, and Nels's elderly mother!) REAP
INTERNATIONAL (which is also not affiliated with HARVEST MINISTRY
-- except through love and friendship) has now established a
excellent Bible training school on the island of Catanduanes in The
Philippines.

The purpose of Harvest
Ministry is to help fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to "Go
into all the world to preach the Gospel." Harvest Ministry is passionate
about winning souls, and is committed to going wherever the harvest is
most ripe, and wherever the Lord directs... Primarily, this is
accomplished through International Gospel Outreaches (especially in East
Africa and other third-world countries), National Evangelism Team
Support (N.E.T.S.), our Osanidde Village Orphanage Ministry and encouraging other Christians to become actively
involved in world evangelism.
